Classroom Structure

Parent Letter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to 8th grade Social Studies! My name is Mr. Triplett, and I am thrilled to have your child in my class this year. I graduated in 2017 from the University of Arkansas and have a strong passion for both teaching and creating engaging learning experiences. Outside the classroom, I enjoy basketball and am a huge fan of good food—especially pasta! My goal this year is to create a classroom where students are not only engaged in their learning but also develop a sense of responsibility and respect for themselves and others.

In my classroom, I have a few important procedures that I ask students to follow in order to maintain a focused and productive environment. First, I expect all students to be quiet and engaged during lessons. This helps everyone stay focused and ensures we can make the most of our time together. Secondly, I encourage respectful communication, meaning that when students have a question or want to share an idea, they should raise their hand and wait for me to call on them. This way, everyone has a chance to contribute without interruptions. Lastly, I have a clear transition process in place. When moving between activities, I’ll give clear instructions, and I expect students to follow them quickly and quietly so we can stay on track.

Regarding grading, I believe in fairness and clarity. The grading scale for this class is as follows:

A is 90-100, B is 80-89, C is 70-79, D is 60-69, and F is below 60. Homework will be assigned

regularly and should be submitted by the due date. If homework is late, students may still receive partial credit, depending on the situation. For assessments, I am open to students redoing or retaking assignments to improve their understanding and grades. My goal is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to master the material.

I believe in the importance of communication between home and school. If you have any

questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I am available by email at

dtriplett@gmail.com. If you need to meet in person, we can arrange a time after school.

I look forward to working with you and your child this year and making it a successful and

enjoyable experience for everyone. Please feel free to reach out at any time.

Sincerely,

Mr. Triplett
